Why the interest?

Updated: Oct 2, 2022

Welcome to my first blog post as Lo on Lo’s Logic.

To get started it’s important to note that this web presence is narrated through the eyes of Lo, a digital persona created to express authentic inner logics and thoughts towards modern arts ability to represent contemporary societal issues.

So, why is Lo interested in contemporary arts place in generating discourse? Lo’s interest in contemporary art began when the world underwent irreversible change.

The web revolution saw the birth of Web 2.0, a phenomenon changing the user interface of the internet and revolutionising individuals use the internet

How is this relevant to Lo’s Logic? Well, it means that because of this, the ability to publish online became more accessible than ever and in doing so an interest sparked.

How is this relevant to Lo’s Logic?

This serves relevance as it fuels the idea that anyone can have authorship and the idea that audiences no longer had to be passive and in contrast were being promoted to consume actively was presented.

So, what do we do with this idea that Lo could now be part of an active audience and was able to actively engage and contribute to discourses of interest?

Well, Lo’s Logic is what happened. A space for Lo to make her own commentary on art and share her own thoughts on artists’ works while interoperating their meanings in an open online space all while keeping parts of her identity hidden.

An artist that inspired not only this web presence but many creatives to create under a pseudonym is Banksy.

I’m sure unless you’ve been living under a rock you have heard about the mysterious unidentifiable artist who goes under the alias Banksy.

If not, have a look here .

Banksy is the first memory I have of an artist choosing to be unidentifiable in the publishing of their work in an age where web 2.0 was making identity and status a pillar of success. Banksy, is one inspiration that influenced Lo’s personal interest in the idea of creation under a pseudonym, because after all that’s exactly what Banksy is right? A physical, real life, pseudonym?

Think about that, a world-renowned artist whose work is recognisable at an international Think about that, a world-renowned artist whose work is recognisable at an international scale, yet you wouldn’t know if they were standing right next to you because we’ve never been granted access to their private life.

This point has led me to create this art commentary blog due to the idea that art is so powerful it doesn’t matter who the creator is, because audiences are so caught up in their own lives that no one really cares who makes what, just how, what they make, makes you feel.
